Frequently Asked Questions
Doula Servcies
Why should I hire a doula?
Doulas provide a level of support and advocacy that is not always found in your healthcare provider (though it’s awesome when it is!). I am basically the cool, calm resource you have in your back pocket who has no other agenda but to get you what you need.
Would a doula replace my partner?
This is a common concern couples may have, but the answer is absolutely not! I am here for the partner as much as I am for the pregnant person. We all work together as a team and I make sure that I am never stepping on partner’s toes. I actually work to actively involve your support team, as they are often the ones who can provide the most intimate support. Plus, it’s nice to have an extra person so your partner can eat, go to the bathroom, and do other human stuff :)
does hawaii doula do home births or hospital births?
Both!! I believe birth is magical no matter where it takes place and I am well equipped to support you in whatever type of environment you want to birth in.
What kind of help can hawaii doula provide?
I am super passionate about informed consent and informed decision making. I believe that when you have all the info, you can make the best decision for you and your family. So I work hard to make sure you have all that info, and decipher any new info coming your way during labor.
1:1 Coaching
WHy would I need a coach for my pregnancy?
One-on-one coaching offers personalized support during the entire pregnancy, not just during labor or postpartum. With coaching, we can take more time to address any concerns you may have, work through challenges that arise during your pregnancy, and create a plan for your birth and postpartum.
How is your coaching different from a childbirth education class?
Childbirth education classes are often a single day with a whole lot of information. Even the best childbirth education classes can be overwhelming to parents. And chances are, you may forget some of the great things you learned!
Having a coach allows you to have those moments of “what did we talk about a month ago?” and not stress about how you’re going to find that answer. I like to think of coaching as having all the info of a childbirth education class, plus the 9-month long support and personalization every family deserves.
Is coaching a set number of sessions, or can i personalize it?
If you haven’t figured out already, I am a BIG fan of personalization. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to birth and coaching is no different. If you have a specific plan in mind, I’d love to chat with you about it and create the best way to support you!
THis is exactly what I want! How do I get started?
The best way for us to get in touch and start chatting about your amazing adventure of birth is to head over to my contact page and send me a message.

Birth Classes
Why should I take a birth class?
How you prepare for your birth can (and will!) have a huge impact on your birth experience. Whether it’s your first baby or your fifth, taking a birth class is a must for me. Topics covered are anatomy, coping methods, medical interventions, laboring techniques and so much more. Reach out if you would like to schedule a private class!
I’m having a C-section/epidural. Do I still need to take a class?
Yes, yes, yes!! There is still so much valuable information for you to learn about they type of birth you have chosen. This is a great example of when a personalized private birth class would be excellent in diving deep into topics you know are going to be a part of your birth.
Is there an option for private classes?
Absolutely! Private classes can offer much more personalization and we can dive deep into topics you may not know much about, while briefly going over topics you are well educated in. Also, the ability to schedule to your convenience helps fit in this much needed education. Just drop me an email and we’ll get it set up!
Can I bring my partner/supporter?
I highly encourage partners/support people to be present during a birth class. This class is geared to be informative for both pregnant people and their supporters. There is also a hands on portion of practicing labor moves and coping strategies that partners help with.
